Gingham top: vintage, thrifted;
Skirt: Kasper, thrifted;
Boots: Target;
Belt: BR, from Marilou.
Gingham is one of my favorite patterns, and it's no surprise that whenever I find it in a vintage or thrift store, it's a piece that usually comes home with me. I've had some trouble figuring out how to style it, and so I included this top in the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge. For Day 9 of the Challenge, I decided to try it with this mint green skirt. The skirt is a little brighter in real life, and so to make it seem less Christmas-y, I added some brown elements to ground it. I like the top belted -- for some reason it just looks more professional to me.
Some of you might wonder why I've gone back to the beach spot so many times recently in my outfit posts. Whenever I scroll through my blog and see this particular landscape, I'm often reminded of that phrase about insanity being defined as expecting different outcomes from a repeated experience. But to me, this is a rather exciting time to take photos outdoors. It is a different experience every time because all the changing elements make it so, and I love documenting it everyday. Besides, every day I'm afraid that the next week will be the week all the leaves will be gone, and I'll regret not going to the same spot to capture what it is now.
What are some unexpected color combinations you've tried recently?
I like your leafy beach location, do you set up a tripod or have someone take pics for you?

I have a bit of a gingham obsession as well. This outfit is really cute!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about this top that is absolutely stunning. Maybe it's the gingham, or the way it fits, I dunno but it is fab!! - Katy
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites, yet again. I think you look gorgeous and the beach location is a perfect backdrop for you. I don't know why... it just "fits."
ReplyDeleteI tried mint green and grey on my first day of the remix. I was surprisingly in love with the combo.
I really like this outfit, and I can't put my finger on the exact reason why...I think it just flows so perfectly! I love your beachside photo location!

That top is so beautiful! You always have the most beautiful colors for fall!
ReplyDeleteUm, I love this. The belted gingham top was a great idea! It makes your waist look sooo tiny! I can see the appeal of the shoreline shoots, too -- look at all those autumn trees!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. I'm not sure if it's the belt, the gingham or what, but I think it's a great silhouette and suits you well!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are beautiful. You always manage to take such gorgeous pictures! Your outfits are always so pretty too :)

I love the length of your hair, Joann! Thank you for your nice words in my blog. I could be exaggerated especially when I'm at the peak of my emotions you know? Having really long hair forever and having a shorter hair now takes some real adjusting! :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, i didn't notice that you were wearing a mint green skirt. Looks like khaki almost :)
That belt is so flattering to your figure. You waist is so small!

gingham is one of my favorites. It is a little hard to style though. I feel like it styles really easily in the summer and not as well in the fall. I think you did a lovely job, though!
ReplyDeleteI feel kind of bad about taking all of my pictures in the same spots, but it is kind of interesting just to see how they change. You get a record of the seasons along with your clothing diary.
