So this is a pretty exciting week for me -- it's my one-year blog anniversary on Saturday. In honor of that, I wanted to find something that would be a small token of my gratitude for all of you amazing readers. You really have helped make Sidewalk Chalk what it is, and I could not be more grateful for your friendship in the last year.
I spent quite a bit of time looking in local vintage stores for the right thing to give away, because I wanted it to be something chic and a piece that would look fantastic on everyone. Enter this 1960s vintage black saddle handbag.
It's leather, in the saddle design, and has a snap closure, silver/gold hardware, and three compartments (two open, one a zip-up) on the inside. My favorite feature is the handle, because it has ball-and-socket attachments! It's quite a beautiful, ladylike bag that can be used for everyday, but has enough pretty details to be used for special occasions -- like those holiday parties coming up soon. Doesn't it look like something from the "Mad Men" prop department?
1) Leave a comment here explaining how you would style this handbag. Make sure you leave a way to contact you in your comment, either your blog link or an e-mail address. One entry per person. That's it!
This contest is open worldwide, and I'll draw a winner next Friday, October 22 around 5:00 pm est.
Best of luck, and thank you for an amazing year!
Happy Blog anniversary!! Cute bag.

We've been away but we're back and we've missed you! Hope you can stop by and check out the latest blog post :)
Congratulations my dear!
ReplyDeleteI would style this with a cute 1960s shift dress, and black boots.
Fingers crossed!
OOO that is so cute! I would style it a million different ways, but I have this pair of modern black boots that would look great paired with a mod dress and this bag. I also am doing Mad Men for Halloween (I know, unoriginal!) and haven't found the perfect 60's bag yet. I'd love to ad this bag to my wardrobe!!

Of course my initial thought is "Wear it with a blazer!" but that is my initial thought on everything.
ReplyDeleteSince it is a very structure purse with clean lines, I think I'd go the opposite and pair it with a very flowy top. I have this navy blue tunic-type top from Forever 21 that is covered in red and green and white little flowers. It cinches at the waist which I love as well. I'd pair it with dark blue skinny jeans and my nude flats. Since it's chilly in D.C., I'd top it off with my trench and this bag and I'd be on my way!
Happy anniversary!

Happy blog=iversary! I can't believe it's been a whole year. I've loved watching your style evolve as you changed jobs and cities.
ReplyDeleteI would style this in a contrasting way - I'd probably pair it with my cropped leather jacket, black knee highs and cognac boots. I don't want to be too costumey with a full-on '60s look.
Happy Bloggiversary!
ReplyDeleteI have this amazing cape/jacket. It is belted at the waist and is black and white checked (small checks but not quite herringbone). Although it is belted it hits right below the waistline. Black shorter length skirt that hits just about the knee, eggplant purple tights and tall, chucky heeled mary janes. One vintage chunky pin for the cape/jacket. New flair that still shows respect for the era of the purse. Mad Man with punch!
(my fingers are crossed)

Oh I'm such a disaster when it comes to styling. If there's one thing I do know for sure is that a little black dress always comes in handy. An LBD and this bag would make a killer outfit!

PS: Happy birthday to your blog!
I would style it with a black simple dress, but then I would put on some funky jewelry to balance out the conservative vibe with something fun.
ReplyDeletejhbalvin at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteI can't wait until I've hit a year with mine. :)
I think I'd style this bag with my super fun blue Anthro dress (the one I'm wearing in all my latest Facebook pics), some grey pumps and this little number. I'm kinda into the muted neutral accessories to go with the bright colors of an outfit lately. :)
Happy anniversary! I think I would wear this bag with my long black boots, black skirt and leopard print top!
ReplyDeletesarag.d@tiscali.it
Really lovely purse, and happy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteI would probably put it with a very Audrey Hepburn capris and starched white shirt combo, with very small and very bright coordinating silk scarves tied around my neck and tied around the bag handle, where it meets the bag.
Thanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeletelkish77123 at gmail dot com

ReplyDeletelauren51990 at aol dot com

monikalintang@hotmail.com
Skinny jeans tucked into riding boots. A white high collared shirt under a red preppy jacket. :)
ReplyDeletecngradulations :)
ReplyDeletemany, many ways to wear this but my first instinct was..
pencil skirt + crop top knitted sweater + amethyst geode necklace + vintage boots + this bag = beauty ;)
I'd match it with a vintage argyle cardigan, but I'd use my modern black skinnies, black button top and Doc Martens to modern the look up a bit :)
ReplyDeleteteapotofkarmaATgmailDOTcom
This would actually go perfect with the black dress that I'm wearing to the wedding. Paired with my caramel sweater, pearls, and some leopard print, I think it would look great!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI would style this incredible bag with a dress. To contrasts its sharp edges, I would pair it with a frilly, colorful dress. I have a red ruffled dress that I think it would look stunning with.
Then, I would wear a black western inspired belt with the red dress to draw upon some of the themes of the bag. I'd top off the outfit with a pair of black high heels and black long feathered earrings. Just to add a touch of romance to the inspired ensemble!

i'd pair this bag with my grandmother's vintage velvet skirt and blazer suit set (it fits me perfectly...who would have guessed it) and my own vintage-inpsirted peep toe heels. all in classic black of course! some red lips and liquid eyeliner and i'd be set!
ReplyDeletethanks!
DolphinV27@aol.com
I would style it with a red sheath dress, a black belt and black pumps.
ReplyDeletewinit6 at hotmail dot com
A red sheath dress with a little white floral pattern (similar to the one you wore for your senior portraits) comes into mind, but I imagine that too many people would have styled this bag with a Mad Men-ish ensemble like that. So what about a clingy purple tent dress with long dark boots? Add gold earrings and and updo, and I think we may have hit upon something.
ReplyDeletethe_outsider01AThotmailDOTcom
Happy Blogversary! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll wear this with a floral dress and some black boots to go along with it.
Thanks for the chance! Fingers crossed! :)
Just Better Together
a pair of jeans-my black boots and a sweater for the cool months
ReplyDeletetiramisu392 (at) yahoo.com
I'd wear this bag to work! Skinny black trousers, oxfords, white button down, grey tweed blazer. Done and done.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to wear this bag, in a vintage outfit where the weather is cloudy and gloomy. I'll strut this with a white long cotton sleeve tuck into a cute flower skirt with a flower on my hair.
This is a beautiful purse and with me not being very stylist it would brighten my day and my jeans.. and kangaroo!
ReplyDeletethat bag is lovely! I'd wear it with jeans and my black tall boots!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog today! Really enjoy your sense of style and love the treasure posts!
ReplyDeleteI'd style this bag with dark trouser jeans, a black cardigan with a huge pop of color (baby blue, purple, turq) underneath. Studded earrings and a fun ring. Just bought a pair of kitten heeled mary janes and they are a must too.
Thanks for the chance to win it!
