Dress: J. Crew;
Shirt: H&M;
Belt: Fossil;
Jade bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Shoes: Target.
How I've worn the dress before: here.
This dress has been a challenge to style since I've had it because the pattern is very different from the rest of the color palette in my closet. If there's anything this Dress Project has been, it's offered up some fun challenges, so I could not say no. This dress would work really well in a casual setting, like the beach, but I wanted to try to style it for an office environment without having to just put a cardigan over it. I ended up liking this silhouette quite a bit. I actually got the idea for the striped top the last time I browsed J. Crew -- the sales associate had a sweater in the same pattern as my dress, and she was wearing a blue striped top underneath. Hooray for everyday style inspiration! How do you style tricky patterns in your closet?
I never would have thought to pair that print with stripes. It looks really nice. I'll have to keep this look in mind for the future.
ReplyDeleteThis might be my favorite dress of yours so far. It fits you amazingly! That skinny belt is the perfect touch, too.
ReplyDeleteI love it over the striped blouse as well. I love pattern mixing, and while it's not something I'm comfortable doing with my own closet (I don't own too many patterns to mix!), I love seeing how others mix them. This mix is so fun, springy and fresh.
This is a really creative outfit, JoAnn. It looks so polished. I like that the prints are different, but the colors are what really pulls it together. And the shoes unite it all. Great job. I can see how the dress would be tricky to style for the office, but this look is put together.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrasting patterns/colors! They definitely compliment one another.. and it looks totally fab on you Joann :)
ReplyDeleteWill you be sportin' any fun spring-ey flower-ey maxi dresses??
xx Love & Aloha
I love everyday inspiration. That's usually how I work out some of my biggest closet dilemmas. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI think this outfit is my favorite of yours so far in this challenge - I adore that dress and the shirt combination, and you look like one of the J Crew models, but real
ReplyDeleteI paired a JC print with a striped something too recently - great minds think alike (but you look way better).
ReplyDeleteI really like that pop of blue against the yellows and greens of the dress - it is unusual but totally works.
i love the baby blue with it! great job! u look stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow, quite daring, and you absolutely rock it!! Way to pattern mix like a champ!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a great pattern -- I think you've done a fabulous job with the styling! Paisley IS tricky, but you wear it beautifully...

I love this print! I tried to get ANYTHING from J. Crew with this print, but they were always out of my size. Of course.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse and dress are perfect for each other! Who would have thought? So pretty! =)

Very cool! I bet you could pair it with a dark green underlayer in fall, too - pick out that deep forest shade in the pattern.
ReplyDeleteYou did a perfect job styling this outfit! I love the mix of the patterns and the baby blue was a great accent color.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, Joann!!

You wore that dress really well! It actually goes really well with the striped blue shirt.
ReplyDeleteI loveeee the pattern/color of this dress. The good thing is that this season is all about mixing patters, textures, etc. so wearing things with that dress should be easier!
